In connection with Population Day, PG Department of Economics of St. Pius X College Rajapuram has conducted an inter-departmental poster competition on eleventh June 2019. Students of micro Biology won first prize. The posters were exhibited in First Degree Economics class room

PG Department of Development Economics of St Pius X College Rjapuram has conducted union budget analysis on 28th june 2019 in the college auditorium. Dr. R Satheeshkumar, vice principal& HOD P G Dept of Development Economics St Pius X College Rajapuram inaugurated the programme. Joby Thomas, Assistant professor of economics has done welcome speech. Mr.Likhil Mathew of BBA Department and Mr.Nidhin Mathew of Commerce department were presented papers on union budget 2019. All the students of Economics Department participated in the discussion. The new budget presented by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharam comes with new promises. Taxing the super-rich, five trillion growth and a blue sky vision on Indian economy were key highlights of the budget.

In connection with Micro Small Medium Enterprise Day, PG Department of Development Economics of St Pius X College Rjapuram has conducted a seminar on the topic Micro Small Medium Enterprise in indian economy on 27th june 2019 in the college auditorium. The discussion was mainly centred arround the importance of MSME and the need for creating and supporting it in the current economic scenario.

PG Department of Development Economics of St Pius X college Rjapuram has conducted a one day regional seminar on the topic intellectual property rights and its impact on indian economy on 25th june 2019 in the college auditorium. Dr.Marykutty Alex,principal of college inaugurated the seminar. Vice-Principal Dr. R Satheeshkumar has done presidential address. Keynote address was given by Dr. N Karunakaran (Associate professor &HOD, EKNMGovt College)on topic IPR and agriculture sector. Papers were presented by Dr.Asokan(former registrar of Kannur university & HOD Dept of economics, NAS College kanhangad, on topic IPR in India- an overview And Dr.RSatheeshkumar on the topic WTO and TRIPS. Assistant professors of Economics DptMr. Edwin Jerad and Mr.Praveenkumar also presented papers in the afternoon session. It is followed by a group presentation by students of second year MA.

PG Department of Development Economics of St Pius X College Rajapuram has conducted a seminar on the topic financial Inclusion and Literacy on second August 2019 in the College auditorium. Dr.Marykutty Alex, principal of college inaugurated the seminar. Vice-principal Dr. R Satheeshkumar has done presidential address. Paper was presented by Dr.Jaison Joseph (Assistant professor EKNM Govt College) on the topic securities and exchange board of India.

PG Department Development Economics of St Pius X College Rjapuram in association with Federal Bank has conducted a seminar on Financial Planning in Saving Habits on 15th January 2019 in the college auditorium. Dr.Marykutty Alex, principal of college inaugurated the programme. Federal Bank Calicut zone manager Arun chirammel coordinated the programme. The discussion was mainly centred on saving habits of people in the current economic scenario.

A regional seminar was conducted on the topic recent trends in Indian financial markets under the auspices of pg department of development economics St.Pius x College, Rajapuram on 27/03/2018.sixty members were participated in the seminar which was very informative and useful. The programme was inaugurated by dr. Thomas mathew, principal St Pius X College Rajapuram. PG Department of Development Economics of St Pius X College Rjapuram has conducted seminar on Need for value oriented education and personality development on 1st October 2017 in the college auditorium. Shojo M A (HR Manager, winner’s education private lmtd) handled the classes. It helped students to discover the hidden or ignored aspects of their character. And also to better their communication skills, which will aid them to forward their opinions or thoughts in a clearer and respected way.

Department of development economics conducted one day seminar on Decentralised Planning Process. This seminar aimed to provide a platform for the effective implementation of decentarlised planning process and so understand the various factors affecting the effective decentralization.The discussions were classified into the following three themes: Focal Theme I: Status of decentralized governance system in Kerala Focal Theme II: Issues/Approaches/Initiatives : Strengthening governance Focal theme III: Decentralised planning: Key stakeholders, their concerns, roles and responsibilities.

PG Department Development Economics of St Pius X collegeRjapuram in association with Kerala state excise department has conducted an awareness programme vimukthi (anti drug awareness programme)on 22nd march 2017in the college auditorium. Dr.ThomasMathew,principal of college inaugurated the seminar. Vice Principal Dr. R Satheeshkumar has done presidential address. G Raghunathan , excise preventive officer took class on anti drug awareness.

PG Department Development Economics of St Pius X College Rjapuram has conducted seminar on emerging challenges of Indian economy in as at the college auditorium. Dr. P P Sajimon, HOD St Allosius College Mangloore was the chief guest.

On 22nd February 2017, a discussion was organised by the St.Pius Economic Forum (SPEF) on 2017-18 union budget. Miss. Sharima P, Miss. Krishnapriy T, Mr. Abin James and Mr. Niraj V had presented various aspects of union budget 2017-18. After the presentation, a general discussion was conducted about the budget.

St.Pius Economic Forum organized a Debate Competition Impact of demonitisation of Indian Economy on February 21st, 2017. Each team consisted of two members. A slot of 5 minutes was allotted to each member. The event was full of enthusiasm and new vision towards the impact of demonetization. All the participants put in tremendous hard work to showcase their hidden talent.

On 27th September 2016, an interdepartmental Quiz competition was organized by St.Pius Economic forum. The quiz comprised of twelve round, covering the various recent issues. All the six departments were participated in the programme. The quiz competition was won by Department of Development Economics.

St pius Economic Forum conducting a career guidance class on 17/08/2016. After the reception, a session a session was taken by Mr.Binesh Balan, who enlightened the students how to face an interview and the strategies to be adopted. It also included contents as well as how to frame a Resume when you seek a job and the impact of body language, dressings, confidence etc on the outcome of the interview. Mr. Binsh Balan acquainted students with the various avenues and opportunities for a graduate in the Government sector. He mainly focused on opportunities available in the Government sector for those pursuing Economics. He also highlighted job opportunities in teaching, Civil service, Banking services etc.

On August 12th, 2016, a seminar was conducted on Goods and Service Tax by the PG Department of Development Economics. The first session was taken by Asha V, on topic GST Overview, wherein the Understanding the need for GST, Discussion on GST Provisions, rules and its procedures, etc. The second session was taken by Arun Chandran, on topic of Implications of GST on Current business arrangements, Transition to GST from existing practices, Do’s and Don’ts in GST, etc.

On July 4th 2016, St.Pius Economic Forum (SPEF), is an association of PG department of Development economics was organized a seminar on Quantitative Techniques in Economics. Mr. Ranjith P, Alumni of Department of Development Economics, now the research scholar at IIT Chennai, was the Resource Person. The primary objective of the seminar was to help participants in acquiring necessary skills that will enable them to design, execute, report and critically review quantitative research in social science. The seminar provided valuable information regarding fundamental knowledge of quantitative research methods and the considerations that go into the design of empirical studies employing such methods.

PG Department Development Economics of St Pius X College Rjapuram in association with KILA has conducted a workshop on peoples plan and local self governments on 10th march 2015 in the college auditorium. Dr.Thomas Mathew inaugurated the programme .KILA faculty extension member P V Pathmanabhan and District Performance Audit Officer k kannan Nayar has taken classes on the topic decentralised planning in Kerala, action planning and evaluation of planning etc.
