National cadet corps

The NCC is a voluntary organization working under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. It provides opportunity for military training and social service to students without imposing on them any obligation for active military service. The NCC aims to develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, fitness, leadership, and secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship among the youth to make them better citizens. It aims to build a reserve of potential officers so that the defence service of the country can expand in a national emergency.

It is obligatory on the part of the cadets to attend weekly parades, annual camp, and a minimum of two years membership in NCC. Cadets who wish to obtain B & C certificates will have additional parades. Cadets obtaining C certificate and a university degree are eligible to appear before the Service Selection Board (SSB) for direct commission in the army, navy and air force, without appearing for the UPSC examination. Moreover, they are eligible for weightage of marks at the time of admission for higher studies.

A unit of Senior Division NCC (infantry) is attached to this college. There are 54 Cadets. Capt.(Dr)Thomas Scaria, is serving as the NCC officer. The NCC unit of the college conducted a variety of programmes this year.
